Attitude of Gratitude

Why Having an Attitude of Gratitude Can Change Your Entire Life
Gratitude is the foundation to a more positive life and the key to long-term success. When you approach each day with gratitude, you naturally become more appreciative, present, and fulfilled. Instead of focusing on what’s missing, you recognize what you already have—and that shift in mindset changes everything.
If I look back 10 years ago, I see a deeply frustrated and unhappy version of myself. I lived in a lack mindset, constantly dwelling on what I didn’t have. I was angry that I hadn’t been accepted into certain colleges, resentful that I had to take out student loans while others didn’t, and constantly compared myself to those who seemed to have it easier - whether it was their family home life, opportunities or achievements. I felt as though life had dealt me an unfair hand, and that bitterness consumed me.
But if only that younger version of me could see where I am today.
The only thing that truly separated her from me was a new mindset. I used to focus on everything I lacked, but now I focus on everything I have. And when I shifted my perspective, everything else started to change too.
Since 2015, I’ve grown in ways I never imagined. I competed on Season 36 of the Emmy award-winning show, The Amazing Race, signed with a modeling agency, paid off $25k in student loans and built a successful career as a Senior Marketing Strategist in the fintech space. At Fannie Mae, I’ve managed multi-million dollar projects, proving to myself that I’m capable of thriving in high-stakes environments. I’ve overcome heartbreak, rebuilt my life after my engagement ended, and had the courage to move across the country and start over, turning uncertainty into opportunity. I’ve taken risks, bet on myself, and achieved things that once felt impossible.
I’ve built a life I’m proud of, and most importantly—learned to appreciate the journey. Gratitude didn’t just make me happier; it made me stronger, more resilient, and open to opportunities I might have once overlooked.
So if you feel stuck, frustrated, or like life is working against you, try this: shift your focus. Instead of counting what’s missing, count what’s already there. Gratitude won’t make your struggles disappear, but it will change the way you navigate them. And that can make all the difference.
